Current Account Switch Service

Switch your current Account to UBL UK

Switching your current account to UBL UK is simple with the Current Account Switching Service.

The service is free to use and makes it easier  to move your current account from one participating bank or building society to another. The switch takes 7 working days, on a date agreed with your new bank.

Your regular incoming and outgoing payments are moved as part of the switch, and the service is backed by the Current Account Switch Guarantee.

If you hold a joint current account, you will need permission from any other account holders before using the switch service.

How does the Current Account Switch Service work?

Once your new UBL UK current account has been opened and you have requested a full switch, your switch is completed in 7 working days. You can choose and agree your switch date with us.

1. Open your UBL UK current account

Visit our London Branch to complete the UBL UK current account opening process or post an application form with the relevant documents to  FREEPOST: RUEE-STYR-XYKE UBL UK 2 Brook Street London W1S 1BQ.

2. Request your switch

Tell us that you would like to switch an existing current account to UBL UK using the Current Account Switch Service.

You will need to agree to the Current Account Switch Agreement and Current Account Closure Instruction. These form part of the switching process and will be provided by your new bank.

3. Choose your switch date

You can agree a suitable switch date with us. The switch required 7 working days and the chosen date cannot take place on a weekend or bank holiday.

4. We take care of the switch

As part of the service, your regular incoming and outgoing payments are moved to your new account. This includes payments such as Direct Debits, standing orders and salary payments. The balance in your old account is transferred to your new account on your switch date.

5. Your old account is closed

As part of a full Current Account switch, your old account is closed when the switch is completed.

The Current Account Switch Guarantee

The current Account Switch Service is backed by the Current Account Switch Guarantee, giving you additional reassurance when you switch.

Under the Guarantee:

  • The service is free to use, and you can choose and agre your switch date with your new provider.

  • Your regular outgoing and incoming payments are moved to your new account.

  • The balance held in your old account following the switch will automatically redirect to your new account.

  • If there is a problem making your switch, your new bank will contact you before your switch date.

  • If something goes wrong with the switch, once you tell your new bank, any interest paid or lost and charges incurred on your old or new current account as a result of switching failure will be refunded.

What happens to payments sent to my old account?

Payments made to your old account after your switch will automatically redirect to your new account.

When an electronic payment is redirected, the person or organisation making the payment will be notified of your new account details so that they can update their records. Some organisations may contact you separately to confirm that your account details have changed.
